Photographers all over Britain have pledged to give a day in October, November and December 2009 for any deserving couples who are willing to raise money for Cancer Research UK through a group called Photographers 4 Charity The brainchild of Andrea Lane, who herself has had first hand experience of cancer, over 100 photographers who are members of the professional body SWPP have pledged their time and support. Visit the website for more information, or if you would like to get involved in some way.
Some of you will know of the wedding that Leeds based photographer, and dear friend of ours, Mark Pearson was asked to shoot as part of Photographers 4 Charity even though it was ahead of time because the bride may not survive to fulfill the criteria. Mark couldn't shoot it, but I was able to, having a wedding on the Friday but not the Saturday, and even though the wedding didn't fit all the criteria it felt the right thing to do.
Pete Welsby came along for the experience and now that I have been able to work on the images (I found it too emotional to do anything with them until the middle of last week, couldn't even look at them!) I thought I would share some.
So, here you go, a selection of the story.
The bride, Sally, who made sure everyone had a happy day with lots of memories of laughter
Dave, or Trout as he is known to his friends - a man with a true spirit and a loving heart.
Sally's brother, Eddie, walked her down the aisle and gave her away.
The bride's sister, Pat, who pulled the family together to get a wedding organised in just 3 weeks!
Sally's son and Dave's bestman, Jimbob who is hoping to do a parachute jump to raise money for Cancer Research UK ... brave lad!

ReplyDeleteWhat photography is all about - well done Zoe & Pete.
ReplyDeleteWhat incredibly moving and beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful Zoe and Pete. (I especially love the one of Sally and Vanessa!) Thank you for making a special day so much more special for Sally and for all of our family. You were a joy to have at the wedding and your generosity and kindness meant a lot to us all. Sally is ill in hospital at the moment - she's having an operation today - but I'm sure that seeing these beautiful memories of the day will help to lift her spirits and bring her a great deal of joy. Thank you for your goodness and for sharing your talent.
