Hope Street Hotel Wedding featured in Pure Weddiings Magazine
We love being featured in Pure Weddings and this time it is with a Real Wedding feature. Melissa and Geriant's wedding in Hope Street Hotel was a beautiful wedding and they were such a lovely couple. When Melissa sent over the story for the feature all about their wedding day and how Geriant proposed in Paris I have to say that I did get a little emotional reading it!
It is lovely to be able to think about some of the fabulous weddings we have photographed and it is so exciting to have one of our couples stories featured in Pure Weddings!

What to wear for your CityShoot Makeover Photo Shoot in Liverpool?
There is one question we get asked time and again before our CityShoots in Liverpool, so here are a few tips.
Firstly, let's break this down to men and women. Guys, it's always best to think in terms of layering. And use different colours when you layer as this helps to slim you down. Also, open necked shirts, v-necked jumpers and jackets create an illusion - avoid round necks, and never wear stripes, checks, heavy patterns or logos. Remember, one block of colour and totally square tops (like t-shirts and sweatshirts) tend not to be a good look.
For the ladies, again, layering is a useful technique with jackets, a scarf, a cardigan, but if you're wanting to look a little bit sexy, then think about a mix of textures, something with a v-neck, and maybe something with a scoop neck (a lower neckline though, not up by your neck). Think about figure hugging, and bring pants and a top as well as a dress.
If you want to go a little bit boudoir, then make sure you have your gorgeous underwear. Corsets and all-in-ones can look fabulous. And remember the heels - although we rarely photograph full length, your high shoes will throw your body into a better shape for photographs. And we may capture one or two shots with those beautiful shoes in there too!
So what about the colour palette? Keep to the same colour palette - that's easy for me to say as an artist, but what does that actually mean? It's all about wearing similar colours - so blues, pinks, beiges, greys. Here is an example of two colour palettes that work well. You could choose to go with the lilac/purple tones, or select the blue/grey tones.
An alternative colour palette might be to choose from the dark blue/grey colour scheme or the beige tones.
And another option with greys or pinks ...
When you're planning as a family or a group of friends make sure that no-one chooses a strong bright colour as a contrast to the colour palette, or as the only person wearing a strong colour, as this then stands out in all the photographs.
So when you're preparing for your shoot bring a range of clothes - which might be more than we will actually use. And if you are coming with family members then talk to each other about what colour palette you are going to work with.
And remember accessories that match - and that goes for men with their shoes too! Bring scarves, necklaces, a jacket, earrings and those gorgeous shoes!
One final word - if you don't know or are unsure then take a quick snap of what you're planning to bring, email it over to us and we can advise you about how the choices you've made will work in the photographs.
We look forward to seeing you soon with your lovely outfits for your CityShoot.

St Georges Hall Wedding Photography in Liverpool
St Georges Hall in Liverpool is one of my all time favourite buildings. It's so dramatic - from the steps outside, to the entrance, the concert room, the grand hall - there is nothing bad about this glorious piece of Victorian architecture (even if it was built the wrong way around to the architects intended design!)
And what a backdrop for your wedding in Liverpool. I've been very privileged to photograph a few weddings at St Georges Hall in Liverpool - and here are a few photographs from one of them.

Chloe and Mark's Wedding at St Mary's Waterloo and Leverhulme Hotel and Spa
Easter Sunday was a bit of a grey day - unless you were Chloe and Mark and all their family and friends, because it was a perfect day for a wonderful wedding. Chloe's dress, and her choice of dresses for her bridesmaids, was gorgeous, and Mark looked perfect in his blue lounge suit. Someone had booked a dove release, unbeknownst to both Chloe and Mark, but they looked so sweet next to the arch at the entrance to the church.
The flowers were beautiful - but then I wouldn't expect anything less from David Beckham-Doyle. His artistic flair always comes out in his flower displays, and for Chloe and Mark the flowers complemented all the details well. I particularly loved the cherry blossom wishing tree!
After the ceremony we travelled across the water to the Leverhulme Hotel and Spa - a lovely backdrop for any wedding, nestled in Port Sunlight village, where their family and friends celebrated in style - such lovely families and friends! This is definitely one of those venues where you run out of time before you run out of places to take photographs!
And the wedding would not have been complete without a perfect cake, as Karen, Chloe's mum, runs The Cake Shop in Central Station concourse in Liverpool - but that deserves a blog post all of its own! For now, here is the sneak peak for Chloe and Mark - I know they're just going to love their pictures!

Photographing Food for The London Carriage Works at Hope Street Hotel, Liverpool
I have just had the huge pleasure of photographing Paul Askew, Dave Brewitt and the food of The London Carriage Works, Hope Street Hotel in Liverpool, and I have to say, it was a wonderful experience - not least because of how lovely everyone is at Hope Street Hotel, but I was also lucky enough to sample some of the food and I can confirm ... it's delicious! This is just a small sample of the photographs we managed to create - Paul and his team are artists!

Rachel and Sam's Spring Wedding at West Tower, Aughton
A slight delay due to computer problems, but well worth the wait! Rachel and Sam had a glorious day for their wedding at West Tower in Aughton. Rachel got ready at Formby Hall and had a bit of peace in her Barrington's car to West Tower where her mum walked her down the aisle to marry Sam.
Since the day I first met Rachel and Sam it's been clear to see there is a lot of laughter in their lives, and their wedding day was no different. They enjoyed a lovely ceremony at the West Tower, bathed in sunlight, and then had a fabulous jazz band playing in the bar - it was a shame to take everyone outside for the photographs! Rachel and Sam brought together a dream team, with Dominic from Impressions of Formby doing the video, Terry from Barrington's providing the transport, Zoe the chef at West Tower producing her usual amazing food, Ruth from Orchid Blush doing hair and makeup, and of course, yours truly, Zoe Photography doing the photographs!
Here's a sneak peak of the photographs - can't wait to show Rachel and Sam all the selection of pictures for them to relive their happy day!
