Becky and Dave's Wedding Photographs from The Vincent, Southport

I think Becky may just win the prize for amazing shoes this year! Take a look at these gorgeous shoes, aren't they special?

Becky and Dave's wedding at The Vincent in Southport was a lovely day, even if it was trying to snow! Dave looked very dapper in the Marseille tails, and Becky's shoes added a touch of quirkiness that made their day unique. Add to that Dave doing cheerleading with pom poms during the speeches, yes this was a wedding with a difference. I showed them their photographs this week and they love them - now it's on with the album to make sure they can enjoy the magic of their pictures in the flesh.

Here's a sneak peek of their day, with the cake that Becky's Nan made, and the rabbit's foot from her other Nan's wedding, a gift on her elopement to Gretna Green all those years ago (how romantic is that?)

Ryan and Lee's Wedding at The Vincent, Southport

I have to come clean. I think I've fallen in love. And with two guys at once! Ryan and Lee are just so easy to relax with and feel at home with that it makes it quite natural to fall in love with them both. I don't think I have ever seen a couple so much in love, or so loved by all their family and friends. And they both know how to laugh (with and at each other ... and come to think of it, at me a few times too!)

Lee and Ryan got married on Lee's birthday at The Vincent Hotel (the lengths some people go to in order to remember their wedding anniversary!) and as it was a gorgeous day we were able to go down to Southport Pier. Here is a sneak peek of their day - I think you can tell they had a whole lot of fun, can't you? It was a true pleasure to be wedding photographer for Ryan and Lee on such a lovely day in Southport.

Ali and Dom's Crosby Wedding Ceremony and Wedding Reception at The Vincent Hotel, Southport

Ali and Dom's wedding was a very elegant affair at The Vincent in Southport with a black and white theme. Ali's dress was gorgeous (the back of it particularly so), and Dom and all the men were dressed in tuxes - very dapper. The Vincent was a great backdrop to the black and white colour scheme, and I just loved the white taxi that they used from the church to Southport for their wedding reception.

Day 4: The Zoe Photography Advent Calendar of Wedding Photography in Liverpool

Day 4 on the Advent Calendar showcases the wedding photography for Gill and Richard's wedding at The Vincent in Southport. Even though it was pouring down, this was a wedding where the laughter made it feel like the sun was shining. Richard arranged for the old Routemaster to collect Gill, adding a special touch to the day.

It's Your Wedding, Not a Fashion Shoot

In 2008, 2009, 2010 I won a series of awards, one of them being Fashion Photographer of the Year. And so with such a strength in fashion photography you might expect that I want to force fit fashion into every wedding. Sure, my wedding photography is influenced by fashion, but that's as far as it goes. I've noticed recently that more and more photographers, particularly the newer ones, are showcasing weddings as if they are fashion shoots, courses are being marketed to photographers about fashion photography that are advertised with a model in a wedding dress, and people are using pictures taken at courses to create a portfolio to get work as a wedding photographer - and so I've decided it's time to set the record straight.

On your wedding day, I respect that this is a solemn occasion with moments of happiness, some with tears, and lots with laughter. The bottom line is that this is your wedding day, it's not a fashion shoot, it's not a photo shoot. It's your wedding.

I promise to direct you to create some amazing photographs, and I also promise to capture natural moments of beauty and emotion as they happen. But most importantly, I promise not to take over your day with a fashion shoot designed to grace the pages of my website. Your photographs will reflect the two of you, the kind of people you are, the relationship you have together, and who you are with your family and friends.

You may, and probably will, feel like your photographs look like you were featured in a magazine, particularly when you hear from your friends how fabulous you look in photographs I've taken of you - but none of them will have been taken as if we're on a fashion shoot. All of them will be captured in moments of happiness, telling the story of what really happened on your wedding day, not the story that some photographer decides should be told of the two of you.

Let's get back to reality - let's photograph the wonderful and true story of your wedding!

Wedding Photographs for Gill and Richard who Marry at The Vincent, Southport

Some weddings you find you cry, some weddings you laugh .... Saturday's wedding was definitely one for laughing! Even when Gill was crying - hang on, that sounds mean! She was laughing whilst crying too, honestly!

I first met Gill at a school Ladies Night for Farnborough Road Junior School in Birkdale, Southport - that must have been going on for about 5 years ago. Then I photographed Gill's sister's children shortly after Thomas was born. More recently I photographed the baby of one of Gill's closest friend's cousin (confused yet?), and so it seemed inevitable that I would photograph Gill's wedding when it came along.

But this was no ordinary wedding for me, what with the connections to the couple over the last few years, and with Richard being kind enough to organise a special treat for me last Autumn, which meant we spent a fair bit of time all getting to know each other. You see, Richard is responsible for the Blackpool Illuminations, and so Rob and I had the excitement of the behind-the-scenes tour of last season's lights! And I got to pull the original switch that used to put the lights on. Believe me, that's a truly exciting thing to do!

So last weekend we reached the middle of summer, and you'd expect the sun to be shining - but oh no, this summer we seem to be having autumn! So in the wind and the rain Gill and Richard got married at Southport's boutique hotel, The Vincent. It was a wedding with a lot going on, from the Routemaster bus that brought everyone from Blackpool to Southport, and that collected Gill and her family too, to a visit from Laurel and Hardy - and Stan gave up his 122nd birthday to be there with a few magic tricks up his and Olly's sleeves!
